Happy Mother’s Day!

0007We are super excited to share what we have been doing in our new Studio space! Last month after finally moving into our new space in Lacuna Artist Lofts, I decided I wanted to do something fun for Spring (wherever it was) and do a small Mother’s Day Photo Shoot!

Mother’s Day should be fun, colorful and delicious. Adorning the table with oversized blooms and bright color linens can make any spread festive. Whether you are decorating for your Mother or a bunch of Mothers, these ideas are sure to be fun additions.

The menu was simple…I had been loving the High Tea designs I had been seeing but also know my Mom likes breakfast items the most. We had a lovely spread: Cucumber Cigars, Salmon on black bread, North Shore Potatoes, mini quiches…

MotherDay1and sweets; lots of sweets! Cherry Garcia Cupcake, Baked Brie en Cout and Hand-Painted Chocolates were all a big hit!

Details are very important to me. I loved being able to use Hall’s Rental Jars for the Summer Salad. I think a unique presentation can add flare to any food spread. 0027

Thank You to my AWESOME vendors!  (Add links)
Yum Cakes– I have had the pleasure of working with Erika of YumCakes a few times and always hear amazing things! YumCakes is a high end Cupcake Boutique (made to order only). Crème Puff, Crème Brulee (with a crack the top) and Cherry Garcia are just a few of the custom cupcakes she has done in the past!

An Apple a Day– a delicious caterer I met while doing a wedding last summer in Glencoe. They have the best selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees in their restaurant and offer an even better selection for catering. I only wish I could use them more.

0063

Life’s Sweeter Side– I met Abby while at WedBash 2015 and knew I wanted to use them as soon as possible. I am extremely happy I did…I am ordered more chocolates and desserts for another event coming soon and as a gift! Addicting and so delicately constructed.

0045

Cake Chicago- Always provides the best cakes! This time, I wanted to try something different and use Mary’s amazing cake in a jar (Jar’d) 0016

Jai Girard – the photographer who did my wedding in December. I love her work and wanted to see how she would capture Lacuna.

BBJ Linen– I always look to Rebecca at BBJ. She always points me to the newest in fabrics and chargers! I can always count her for the best.
Halls Rentals– I love their selection and they are so close by. I love doing walkthroughs and seeing the new items being added to their inventory!

Wedding Paper Divas– I always use them when I want something quick. They produce great Stationery and I have never been disappointed.

Whatever you’ve decided to do, it will be lovely! Remember, details matter and Happy Mother’s Day!

Courtney Charity & Lance Johnson’s August 17th, 2013 Wedding (Chicago, IL)

Courtney & Lance’s Wedding at The Blackstone Hotel on Michigan Avenue was everything you’d imagine for a Fall wedding in Chicago, Illinois.

FirstDanceFeltonIt was an honor being able to work with Courtney & Lance for such a long time. Signing with Courtney in March of 2012 (Luminous Suite + Month of Assistance & Day of Coordination) gave us plenty of time to really personalize every aspect of their wedding. Courtney & Lance were both extremely busy with work, friends, family, moving, life and you know…being engaged- so Courtney and I utilized email and texts ALOT!

THE CEREMONY

The Ceremony took place in The Blackstone Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom. Courtney was not a fan of “the long walk down the aisle,” so we did her ceremony set up East to West, making it more intimate. The beautiful chandeliers were an amazing addition to soft lavender up lighting and romantic candlelight.

Sarah & Brenda’s Wedding

Sarah & Brenda’s Wedding at The Kenilworth Club in Glenview, IL
August 30th, 2014

Sarah & Brenda had an intimate Wedding at the Kenilworth Club on August 30th, 2014 for 80 guests. It was an absolute pleasure working with such a fun, laid back and loving couple! Being able to plan their entire wedding from start to finish was so much fun we wish them a marriage filled with happiness & love.

Sarah & Brenda wanted something simple, elegant and timeless for the invitations. Spilled Ink Press had recently done some work that I was obsessed with, so I immediately put Sarah & Brenda in touch. Amy had so many fun ideas and Sarah & Brenda designed some pretty cool Wedding Stationery. Definitely I vendor I cannot wait to use again!

The weather was absolutely perfect! The tented ceremony with ivory draping added a more intimate touch (and looked stunning, blowing in the wind). An orchid wrapped arbor made Sarah & Brenda’s ceremony space even more stunning. The lush green backdrop was the perfect accompaniment to their white, ivory and pale pink color story.

“Romantic, intimate & elegant” were all words that Sarah & Brenda used to describe how they envisioned their wedding. Having a soft, but not too feminine color story was important- so pairing the navy bridesmaids’ dresses with a softer khaki color for the men in the wedding party seemed right. Having the subtle pops of pink in the personal flowers and ceremony décor, gave the designs a softer feel against the strong presence of the navy.

Combining Sarah & Brenda’s favorite flowers (Orchids and Roses) we were able to create breathtaking matching Bridal Bouquets with a subtle pops of pink throughout.

I love being able to work with Boutique Bites! Elaina and her staff are beyond qualified and always deliver the most delicious and creative menus. During Sarah & Brenda’s menu creation, we knew a “Fresh & Fun” selection of appetizers for the outdoor cocktail hour was a must!

191 190 189 187The watermelon cups were fantastic and guests really enjoyed the mini “Chicago Style” hot dogs and mini Chicken Tacos.

The specialty cocktails were extremely refreshing and garnished beautifully! A sprig of lavender made “Sarah’s Spritzer” all the more enjoyable!

Being able to have your wedding outdoors is always a treat! Sarah & Brenda added to that fun with a custom designed Bag Set! Several of the guests could be seen playing throughout the Cocktail Hour.

One of my favorite DJ companies, Scratch DJ’s made sure everyone got up to dance at some point and kept us all entertained with great tunes throughout the evening!

Guests were treated to a Traveling Photo booth towards the end of the night as well as personalized wine glasses.

The day and night couldn’t have gone any better. All of the guests had a marvelous time and Brenda & Sarah looked stunning! We are happy to have had the chance to be a part of such a special night!

We wish Sarah & Brenda the best!

City Point Loft

ImageI have been planning my 25th Birthday the last few weeks and chose City Point Loft (off of Michigan Avenue and 23rd street). Located near McCormick Place, City Point Loft is the perfect blank canvas to make any event spectacular.

CityPoint Loft is a “diamond in the rough” venue in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood. As a non-profit organization, CityPoint Loft donates 100% of its profits to non-profit organizations meeting social, educational, and economic needs around the globe. Be it weddings, business events, or other special occasions, CityPoint Loft could be the perfect place for you!

The space gave me complete design control. Bare white walls with oversized windows, exposed brick and a built in small stage on the first floor for the DJ (for me) but also a head table or lounge area. They do not allow open flame (who does anymore?) but can do hurricane vases and LED candles.

The coordinators there were pleasant and answered my many questions. The venue does offer some smaller rentals (tables, chairs and speakers). I chose to rent outside of the venue.

Loft;s are always gorgeous venues for any special event or wedding but you need to really make sure paying for rentals, lighting and catering are in your budget.

They do give you some information on their preferred vendors. If you decide to use your own, they are given some paperwork to fill out 30 days before the event.

Another fun aspect of this venue is their spacious, newly added 2nd floor.

ImageI will post pictures of the transformation and results to show what we transformed the space into.
